CHM130: Fundamental Chemistry – 3 credits

A survey of the fundamentals of general chemistry. Emphasis on essential concepts and problem solving techniques. Basic principles of measurement, chemical bonding, structure and reactions, nomenclature, and the chemistry of acids and bases. Preparation for students taking more advanced courses in chemistry. Students may receive credit for only one of the following: CHM130 and CHM130LL, or CHM130AA. FSC130: Fitness for Firefighters/CPAT – 1 credit

Skills and abilities required for entry level position in the fire service including physical ability, and stamina. Opportunity to take the accredited International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) at the end of the course at a IAFF licensed agency.
Prerequisites: None. Note: FSC130 is offered as credit (P) or no credit (Z) basis. Standard grading available according to procedures outlined in catalog.
