Precalculus (MAT187) 5 Credits

A precalculus course combining topics from college algebra and trigonometry. Preparation for analytic geometry and calculus. Note: Strongly recommended that students have some knowledge of trigonometry. The combination of MAT15+ and MAT182 is equivalent to taking MAT187. Therefore, students should either take MAT15+ AND MAT182 OR just MAT187. Students may receive credit for only one of the following: The combination of MAT15+ and MAT182 OR just MAT187. Prerequisites: A grade of B or better in MAT12+, OR an appropriate district placement.

This is a fast-paced course as it combines the content of two courses in one semester. Students whose program of study requires precalculus but who would like a more relaxed pace may elect to take mat15x (MAT150, 151, 152 or 155) and mat 182 concurrently in order to fulfill their precalculus requirement. Graphing calculator is required for homework and exams. The TI-83 or TI-84 are strongly recommended. The OER estimate does not include the cost of a required calculator purchase or rental.
