Overview and practical application of social studies teaching methodology and curriculum development for secondary teachers. Teaching strategies and learning styles covered. Curriculum design, lesson objectives, time management skills, teaching resources and student assessment also included. Professional Teaching Standards emphasized. Includes current research findings related to the application and learning of secondary social studies content; the methods alignment will be centered around History, Geography, Economics, or Political Science. Prerequisites: Baccalaureate Degree and acceptance of formal application into a state approved post-baccalaureate teacher preparation program or permission of Department or Division. Prerequisites or Corequisites: EDU289.
