EMT104: Emergency Medical Technology
– 10 credits
Designed as the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) lecture to prepare students for scope of practice and standard of care with comprehensive assessment, diagnostic technology, patient advocacy, ethical and professional behaviors, critical thinking, decision-making, and patient management of medical and trauma emergencies and non-emergencies. Note: Students must meet National Registry of EMT requirements for certification. Additional information available at nremt.org. EMT104 may be repeated for credit. Prerequisites: Must be 18 years or older or permission of EMT Program Director and (A grade of C or better in CRE101, or 95 or higher on EdReady Critical Reading and Critical Thinking exam, or 261 or higher on Gen Accuplacer Reading Exam, or High School GPA 3.0 or higher within the previous 10 years, or Associate’s Degree or higher). Corequisites: EMT104AB.

Notes
1. You must be at least 18 years of age at the time of registration or have EMT Program Director approval.
2. You must have ONE of the following:
a. High School graduation GPA of 3.0 (must be an official U.S. High school transcript and completed within the last 10 years) OR
b. Reading score of 261 or higher on the Next - Gen Accuplacer reading exam OR
c. 95 or higher score on the EdReady Critical Reading and Critical Thinking exam OR
d. Successful completion of CRE 101 OR
e. Associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution OR
f. Permission from EMT Program Director.
