EQS295: Equine Therapies II
– 3 credits
Designed to train students with advanced equine therapy methods to relieve common conditions and pathologies for the musculoskeletal system. Identifying biomechanics, variations and abnormalities, muscle tension, joint stress, common injuries and lameness. Identifying and assessing the relationship between conformational flaws, range of motion and lameness as they align with the performance of specific disciplines. Discussion and demonstration with practical hands-on training of advanced equine therapy methods. Designed to train students to work in the field as an Equine Massage Practitioner with the ability to evaluate common conditions, and carry out a treatment plan, that will relieve muscle tension and pain, increasing circulation, flexibility and range of motion in the horse. Note: Certification is only obtained with a B or better in this course. EQS295 may be repeated for a total of six (6) credit hours. Prerequisites: A grade of B or better in EQS175 or permission of Department or Division. Students must pass an entrance test before permission to enroll will be given.

Notes
- Notes: HYBRID CLASS. Class meets in-person on campus on the designated days and times. Additional work will be required online.
This class meets for an 8-week period during the full length semester. Students should expect an increased amount of work each week during the 8 weeks as compared to the same class offered in the full semester. Students are encouraged to work with an academic advisor to be sure their course load is balanced over the course of a given semester.

Classes will meet at Desert Sun Ranch (18940 E Via de Palmas, Queen Creek AZ 85142). As determined by instructor, class may occasionally meet at an alternative location to be announced.
Students are responsible for transportation to off-site locations.
Students enrolling in EQS295 must pass entrance exam with a grade of 85% or higher.
