MAT141: College Mathematics
– 4 credits
Working knowledge of college-level mathematics and its applications to real-life problems. Emphasis on understanding mathematical concepts and their applications. Topics include proportional reasoning, modeling, finance, probability, and statistics. Note: MAT141 students may receive credit for only one of the following: MAT140, MAT141, MAT142, MAT145, or MAT146. Prerequisites: An appropriate District placement, or a grade of C or better in (MAT052, MAT053, and MAT055), or (MAT055, MAT056, and MAT057), or MAT085, or MAT09+, or MAT103, or MAT114, or MAT115, or MAT12+.

- Notes: ONLINE CLASS. All classwork can be completed entirely online. Exams may require onsite/in person attendance. Required proctored testing is available at no cost on campus or for a fee through online proctoring services. Room scans will be required for remote proctored exams. This class meets for an 8-week period during the full length semester. Students should expect an increased amount of work each week during the 8 weeks as compared to the same class offered in the full semester. Students are encouraged to work with an academic advisor to be sure their course load is balanced over the course of a given semester.
A graphing calculator is required for this course. A TI-84 graphing calculator (TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition, or TI-84 Plus CE) is strongly recommended. Calculators with a CAS (Computer Algebra System) are not allowed.
Low-Textbook-Cost Class: The total cost of the required materials for this course is $40 or less.
Zero-Textbook-Cost Class: The total cost of required online instructional materials for this "Z Class" is $0.
