VET109: Veterinary Assisting Internship – 1 credit

Provides students with clinical experience in a small animal general veterinary practice. Provides the opportunity for practical application and development of knowledge, skills, and abilities acquired in program coursework at a veterinary assistant level. Students have exposure to practice philosophies, methodologies, and real-life situations requiring critical thinking and decision-making abilities. Includes instruction and evaluation by veterinarians or veterinary technicians guided by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America Veterinary Assistant Student Essential and Recommended Skills list. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in VET101 and VET103. Corequisites: VET104.
