ART131: Photography I – 3 credits

Basic photographic principles and techniques. Basic camera functions and controls. Experience in the image-making process by creating and editing photographs for various display environments. Introduction to the photographic aesthetic and photography's role in society. Prerequisites: None. Note: Camera required.

    • Additional Notes: Fully-adjustable, high-resolution, digital camera is required. (digital SLR recommended). Art100, Introduction to Computer Graphic Art, is highly recommended as a precursor to this course. This class is taught using Macintosh computers. A DSLR camera is required. ART131 is required for the Certificate of Completion in Digital Arts: Digital Photography and the AAS Digital Arts: Digital Photography Track.       Students in this class will be provided an Adobe Creative Cloud account tied to their MEID username, for home use on PC or Mac computers (smartphone or tablet mobile devices are not supported) during the duration of this course.
