EDU221: Introduction to Education – 3 credits

Overview of the historical, political, economic, social, and philosophical factors that influence education and make it so complex. Opportunity for students to assess their interest and suitability for teaching. Prerequisites: None. Note: EDU221 requires a minimum of 30 hours of field experience in elementary or secondary classroom environment.

      Prior to the class start date, students must have an IVP (Identity Verified Print) fingerprint clearance card or be currently employed in a K-12 school that requires a completed background check for employment.     • Additional Notes: 30-hour field experience in an approved K-12 classroom setting is required.
      The State of Arizona requires fingerprint clearance cards for all students engaged in a classroom field experience.
      To avoid any delay, students should begin the fingerprint clearance process prior to the start of classes. Fingerprint packets are available in the Teacher Education Program, located in the LA building or from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
