Overview of the historical, political, economic, social, and philosophical factors that influence education and make it so complex. Opportunity for students to assess their interest and suitability for teaching. Prerequisites: None. Online classes are completely asynchronous but may include optional synchronous components such as review sessions, office hours, etc.
Students are required to have access to a computer/mobile device and Internet access, and a webcam may be necessary for specific classes.
Students are required to submit an initial assignment due within the first few days of class.

Required ECBL
Class requires an Experiential and Community-Based Learning Activity (ECBL) including, but not limited to: Service-Learning, Internships, Volunteerism, and/or other high-impact/engaging ECBL activities.
Zero-Textbook-Cost Class: The total cost of required online instructional materials for this "Z Class" is $0.
Prior to the class start date, students must have an IVP (Identity Verified Print) fingerprint clearance card or be currently employed in a K-12 school that requires a completed background check for employment. - Additional Notes: 30-hour field experience in an approved K-12 classroom setting is required.
The State of Arizona requires fingerprint clearance cards for all students engaged in a classroom field experience.
To avoid any delay, students should begin the fingerprint clearance process prior to the start of classes. Fingerprint packets are available in the Teacher Education Program, located in the LA building or from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
