CRE101: College Critical Reading and Critical Thinking – 3 credits

Develop and apply critical thinking skills through critically reading varied and challenging materials. Includes analysis, evaluation, interpretation, and synthesis through at least two substantial writing and/or speaking tasks. Note: Students may only receive credit for one of the following: CRE101, CRE101AT, CRE101BM, CRE101BS, CRE101CS, CRE101CT, CRE101ED, CRE101HS, CRE101SM, CRE101VA. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in [(ENG101 or ENG107) and (RDG100, or RDG100LL, or RDG111, or RDG112, or RDG113)], or a grade of B or better in ALT100, or an appropriate district placement, or permission of Instructor.

ENG102: First-Year Composition – 3 credits

Emphasis on rhetoric and composition with a focus on persuasive, research-based writing and understanding writing as a process. Developing advanced college-level writing strategies through three or more writing projects comprising at least 4,000 words in total. Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in ENG101.
