EQS200: Principles of Equine Nutrition – 3 credits

Basic principles of equine nutrition and digestion. Proper selection, evaluation and utilization of feeds as well as the feeding and care of the equine in various stages of production, growth and performance. Emphasis on nutrient content and ration evaluation, general health and feed management. Identifies specific nutritional needs of each class of equine and formulates feeding programs based on these specific needs. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in EQS120 or permission of Department or Division.
