MUP169: Guitar Ensemble – 1 credit

Ensemble of the entire guitar family that may include standard, requinto, alto, bass, and contrabass guitars that emphasizes guitar techniques and the preparation of all styles of guitar ensemble literature. Literature will include modern and historical guitar ensemble repertoire, new works, arrangements, and transcriptions from various musical periods and traditions as well as guitar literature from a diverse number of world musical traditions. Guitar techniques are studied and refined as they relate to the literature performed. Emphasis placed on reading and listening skills, rehearsal and preparation, conducting and performance cues, and performance experience in various guitar styles. Concerts presented throughout the semester. Prerequisites: None. Note: Auditions may be required. MUP169 may be repeated for credit.
