CIS137: Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals – 3 credits

Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals introduces students to the foundations and practical applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including models, tools, and prompt engineering techniques to improve AI outputs. Students will explore AI tools to improve AI-generated output and analyze ethical, regulatory, and privacy concerns surrounding AI usage and content ownership. Prerequisites: None. Basic computer literacy (e.g., navigating web-based tools, file management) and college-level reading (RDG100 or equivalent) and writing proficiency (ENG101 or equivalent) is suggested but not required. Note: CIS137 will require students to create accounts to multiple generative AI tools.

CIS138DA: Desktop Design and Publishing Using Adobe InDesign – 3 credits

Use of Adobe InDesign to compose and print textual and graphic materials of high quality. Includes word processing of copy, use of graphics programs, layout of design elements, printing alternatives, and file formats. Prerequisites: None.

CIS144: Applied Artificial Intelligence – 3 credits

Applied Artificial Intelligence explores advanced applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with a focus on agentic systems and AI driven data analytics. Emphasis is placed on building practical skills, critically evaluating AI outputs, and applying ethical principles such as fairness, transparency, and data privacy in the development and use of AI solutions. Note: CIS144 will require students to create accounts to multiple generative AI tools. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in AIM100 or CIS137.

Industry Application for Artificial Intelligence focuses on the design, integration, and deployment of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. Emphasis is placed on hands-on project work, ethical and responsible AI practices, and problem solving in applied contexts. Note: CIS218 will require students to create accounts to multiple generative AI tools. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CIS144.

Introduction to Electronic Commerce on the Internet. Designing an electronic storefront including web page content and development, e-commerce site marketing, advertisement, legal and security considerations, credit card and other debit transaction covered. The study of business information systems and its management, communication, e-business strategies, emerging technologies, database concepts, and project management. Overview of systems analysis and design. Learn about the competitive and strategic uses of information systems and how they are transforming organizations and their management.
