ENG101: First-Year Composition – 3 credits

Emphasis on rhetoric and composition with a focus on expository writing and understanding writing as a process. Establishing effective college-level writing strategies through four or more writing projects comprising at least 3,000 words in total. Prerequisites: Appropriate writing placement test score, or (a grade of C or better in ESL097 or WAC101), or (a grade of B or better in ALT100), or (a grade of C in ALT100 and Corequisites: ENG101LL, or ENG107LL, or WAC101, or ENG100A+), or (a grade of C or better in ESL202 and Corequisites: ENG101LL, or ENG107LL, or WAC101, or ENG100A+).

    This is a Graded College Credit Class. Students will complete academic requirements through Canvas and they will record hours of exercise to fulfill additional requirements. Classes do not meet at specific class times and coursework must be completed according to deadlines. Students are required to have access to a computer or mobile device, and Internet access, unless otherwise specified. Exercise hours may be performed at the SCC Fitness & Wellness Center or off campus and may be recorded through a fitness app or a recorded schedule. Course tuition covers cost of Fitness & Wellness Center membership for the duration of the class.

PED115: Lifetime Fitness – 2 credits

Increase personal fitness, strength, and vitality. Current principles of cardiovascular exercise, weight training, flexibility, and balance exercises applicable to lifetime fitness goals. Personalized fitness plans developed and implemented with support of highly trained fitness professionals. Techniques to make sessions more effective and enjoyable. Prerequisites: None. Note: PED115 may be repeated for a total of eight (8) credit hours.
