An introduction to creating music with computers, utilizing the Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) protocol, synthesizers, digital audio software/hardware, and MIDI controllers. Prerequisites: None.

    • Class Notes: HYBRID CLASS. Blends classroom and online instruction/activities resulting in fewer in-person class meetings. Designed for highly motivated, self-directed, computer-literate students.
      The first 8 weeks will be in-person with some work required outside of the classroom. The second 8 weeks will be on your time online instruction.
      This course will require the possession, rental subscription, or purchase of MIDI editing software. Ableton or Logic (Mac only) and a MIDI controller in order to complete and submit assignments.
      We have suspended the $100 course fee for this class to compensate for students needing to purchase these extra course materials.
      A computer with internet access required.
    • Additional Class Notes: All Electronic Music students must provide their own headphones.
