CIS151: Computer Game Development -Level I – 3 credits

Introduction to object-oriented game development, game design, and game theory. Use of computer software to demonstrate and teach concepts using an appropriate game development platform to model real-time simulations and create computer games using object oriented tools. Introduction to developing PC games, educational software, and training software using windows based object oriented developments tools. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CIS105 or permission of Instructor.

    • Additional Notes: Textbook Note: Low-Textbook-Cost Class. The same textbook purchase will be used for the following courses: CIS107, CIS151, and CIS251.
      Storage Device Note: It is recommended that students have an external SSD storage device to store their course work; this device will be utilized by multiple courses within the Video Game Production program. Recommended SSD device options include: Crucial, Seagate, SanDisk Extreme, SanDisk Extreme Pro, or Samsung T Series with a minimum capacity of 1TB and read/write speeds of 1000MB/s or greater.       Software Note: CIS107 introduces students to the Unity Game Engine and explores its role within the electronic game industry.
      Course Sequence: It is recommended that students complete CIS107 prior to enrolling into our CIS151.
