HIM101: Introduction to Health Information Management – 3 credits

Provides detailed investigation of the history, development, and evolution of the health information management (HIM) profession. Topics include health care delivery systems, HIM career paths, HIM functions, and HIM in acute and alternative care settings. Prerequisites: Acceptance into the (Medical Coding: Hospital-Based, or Medical Billing and Coding: Physician-Based, or Health Information Technology) program, and permission of Program Director.
