NUR180PN: Practical Nursing Theory and Science II – 12 credits

Advances the knowledge and skills required for practical nursing practice, emphasizing care of childbearing, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients with increasingly complex health needs. Students apply clinical judgment, therapeutic communication, and the nursing process while integrating pathophysiology, pharmacology, nutrition, and infection control principles. Learning experiences include intermediate nursing skills, safe medication administration, intravenous therapy within the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) scope, and health promotion across the lifespan. Through supervised clinical, precepted, and capstone experiences, students develop competence in prioritization, delegation, teamwork, and professional accountability, demonstrating readiness for transition into entry-level practical nursing practice. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in NUR160PN.
