Nursing Theory and Science III (NUR252) 9 Credits

Application of critical thinking strategies related to holistic care of the newborn and childbearing patients. Integration of concepts related to holistic care of adults and older adult patients with selected acute and chronic alterations in health. Integration of professional nursing standards in role development. Utilization of previous knowledge of physical, biologic, psycho-social sciences, and the cultural, spiritual aspects of nursing care. Integration of concepts of nutrition, pharmacology, communication, health promotion, and pathophysiology into nursing care. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in [(CRE101 or appropriate district placement) and NUR172 and PSY101] or permission of Nursing Department Chair.

      Live Online classes have sessions that meet online on specific days and times. Attendance in these sessions will be at the direction of the instructor, and additional work will be required on the student's own time. This course requires the use of a computer or mobile device compatible with required courseware, internet access, a webcam, speakers and microphone.
      Class exams must be taken at the CGCC Testing Center or at any approved testing center. Approval of a site other than CGCC must be obtained from the instructor in advance.
      Hybrid classes combine a reduced amount of scheduled classroom time with required out-of-class learning activities, typically conducted online.
      This class qualifies for Writing-Certified Class Program Distinction.
