Coloring, Toning and Lettering for Sequential Art (ART219) 3 Credits

Understanding of the digital rules and programs used in coloring, toning and lettering comics, and the problems presented therein within the sequential narrative. Emphasis on rules and guidelines within the industry, and digital coloring and lettering. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in (ART100, ART119, and ART120) or permission of Instructor.

    • Class Notes: Students will need access to the software Clip Studio Paint Pro. The students will have access to Clip Studio Paint in the classroom but will need to complete assignments online. Clip Studio Paint Pro is available as a monthly subscription or as a one-time purchase online. For those students that will be taking ART221 Comics Creation, Clip Studio Paint EX would be a better option for the additional features it offers.
      Hybrid classes combine a reduced amount of scheduled classroom time with required out-of-class learning activities, typically conducted online.
    • Additional Class Notes: This course is required for the AAS Illustration and Sequential Art Specialization 1: Sequential Art and CCL Sequential Art.
      Due to COVID related campus lab closures, students will be provided an Adobe Creative Cloud account tied to their MEID username, for home use on PC or Mac computers (smartphone or tablet mobile devices are not supported) during the duration of this course.
