CIS105: Survey of Computer Information Systems – 3 credits

Overview of computer technology, concepts, terminology, and the role of computers in business and society. Discussion of social and ethical issues related to computers. Use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. Includes uses of application software and the Internet for efficient and effective problem solving. Exploration of relevant emerging technologies. Prerequisites: None.

Concepts of problem-solving, structured and object-oriented programming in Java, fundamental algorithms and techniques and computer system concepts. Social and ethical responsibilities. PSY230: Introduction to Statistics – 3 credits

An introduction to basic concepts in descriptive and inferential statistics, with emphasis upon application to psychology. Consideration given to the methods of data collection, sampling techniques, graphing of data, and the statistical evaluation of data collected through experimentation. Required of psychology majors. Note: Students may receive credit for only one (1) of the following courses: PSY230 or PSY230WL.
