Basic skills required to complete architectural drawings with Revit software; simplified overview of the software program and operations gained through completing typical plan, elevation, sectional, and 3D views, using generic walls and related components.

Introduction to Computer-aided drafting (CAD) for the creation of construction documents including: annotated plans, elevations, schedules and schematic section views. ARC112: Architectural Computer Aided Design II: Plans and Elevations – 3 credits

Computer-aided drafting (CAD). Creation of a fully annotated plan, elevation, and schematic section views including dimensions, notes, symbols, and schedule, using a computer aided drafting software such as AutoCAD. Includes an introduction to three-dimensional (3D) CAD using SketchUp and Building Information (BIM) software such as Revit. Note: Students must have working knowledge of basic computer operating systems including, but not limited to, Windows or MAC OS. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in ARC/INT111. Completion of prerequisites within the last three years is required unless current work experience to override this time constraint is approved with permission of Instructor.

ARC243: Architectural Drawings: Site Plans and Sections – 3 credits

Revit (or Building Information Modeling equivalent) instruction directed to the creation of fully annotated site plans and sectional views. Development of professional quality site plans, wall sections, and building sections working from given residential and commercial layouts. Assignments incorporate applicable codes, construction materials and methods and office practices typical to the local area. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in (ARC100 and ARC/INT110), or permission of Department or Division.

ARC244: Architectural Drawings: Structural Systems – 3 credits

Revit (or BIM Equivalent)-based instruction for layout and completion of fully annotated structural drawings. Focuses on working from residential and commercial layouts to develop professional quality roof, roof framing, floor framing and foundation plans. Emphasis on the use of applicable codes, construction materials and methods, and office practices typical to the local area. ARC245: Architectural Drawings: Mechanical and Electrical Systems – 3 credits

Revit (or BIM Equivalent)-based instruction for layout and completion of fully annotated building systems drawings. Focuses on working from residential and commercial layouts to develop professional quality Electrical, Mechanical(HVAC), Plumbing and Reflected Ceiling plans. Emphasis on the use of applicable codes, construction materials and methods, and office practices typical to the local area. ARC265: SketchUp - Introduction – 3 credits

Provides students with introductory level instruction utilizing Sketchup rendering software for school and workplace applications. Addresses basic drawing/rendering commands, accessing external drawing files, and plotting through the creation of both three-dimensional schematic and rendered interior and exterior building views.
Prerequisites: None. Previous CAD experience recommended but not required.

ARC270: Architectural Technology: Practicum – 3 credits

Provides students an opportunity to integrate and synthesize knowledge and skills acquired in prerequisite courses. Includes completion of a full set of working drawings using Building Information Modeling (BIM) under supervision comparable to workplace situations. Designed to provide practice in self-checking work, correcting and editing drawings, and assembling a portfolio. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in ARC243, ARC244 and ARC245, or permission of Program Director.

Introduction to archaeology through discoveries and the researchers who made them. Emphasis on methods of archaeological fieldwork and what these discoveries reveal about humanity, including the nature of archaeological inquiry, the development of human social groups, the changing role of religion in evolving societies, the origins of agriculture, the origins of settled life ways, the rise of cities and complex societies, political strife across different cultures and the forces which tend to fragment societies. EQS195: Equine Therapies I – 3 credits

Designed to acquaint students with equine therapies for major muscle groups, the skeletal system and the hoof of the horse. The relationship that exists between the listed systems, equine locomotion and lameness problems will be discussed. Discussion, demonstration, and/or practical hands-on opportunities of equine therapy techniques will be focus of the class. Note: EQS195 is not designed to train or certify individuals to massage horses on a professional basis. EQS295: Equine Therapies II – 3 credits

Designed to train students with advanced equine therapy methods to relieve common conditions and pathologies for the musculoskeletal system. Identifying biomechanics, variations and abnormalities, muscle tension, joint stress, common injuries and lameness. Identifying and assessing the relationship between conformational flaws, range of motion and lameness as they align with the performance of specific disciplines. Discussion and demonstration with practical hands-on training of advanced equine therapy methods. Designed to train students to work in the field as an Equine Massage Practitioner with the ability to evaluate common conditions, and carry out a treatment plan, that will relieve muscle tension and pain, increasing circulation, flexibility and range of motion in the horse.
