RES292: Respiratory Care Pediatric Advanced Life Support – 1 credit

Airway management for the pediatric patient. Endotracheal and suctioning procedures. Usage of specific medications for cardiovascular emergencies. Interpretation of electrocardiograms (ECG) dysrhythmias. Performance of defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion in simulated situations. Procedure followed during cardiovascular collapse in the pediatric patient. Special resuscitation techniques for pediatric patients. Current American Heart Association validation in pediatric advanced life support (PALS). Prerequisites: Admission into the Respiratory Care program or permission of the Program Director.
