RES291: Respiratory Care Advanced Life Support – 1 credit

Airway management for the adult, patient. Endotracheal and suctioning procedures. Usage of specific medications for cardiovascular emergencies. Interpretation of electrocardiogram (ECG) dysrhythmias. Performance of defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion in simulated situations. Procedure to be followed during cardiovascular collapse. Special resuscitation techniques for adult, patients. Current American Heart Association validation in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Prerequisites: Admission into the Respiratory Care program or permission of the Program Director.
