IPP205: Introduction to Interpreting – 3 credits

Introduction to the role, function, responsibilities and strategies of ASL/English interpreters. This course covers standard practices in the field, available certifications, licensure laws and standards of ethics and professional conduct. Additional topics include advocacy functions, perceptions of consumers and required soft skills. Note: IPP205 may be repeated for a total of nine (9) credit hours. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in ASL201 or permission of Department or Division. Completion of prerequisites within the last three years is required.
