IPH275: Community Health Work Practicum – 1 credit

Provides students with hands-on experience in the role of the community health worker in the public health field, including guiding patients through various types of health care situations. Provides 45 hours of workplace engagement per credit. Note: IPH275 may be repeated for a total of three (3) credit hours. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in IPH101, IPH105, IPH106, IPH112, IPH136, and IPH205 or permission of Program Director.

  • This class meets for an 8-week period during the full length semester. Students should expect an increased amount of work each week during the 8 weeks as compared to the same class offered in the full semester. Students are encouraged to work with an academic advisor to be sure their course load is balanced over the course of a given semester.
    Students are responsible for transportation to off-site locations.
    Students will be placed at an offsite location(s) by the Allied Health Director.
