BHS175: Trauma-Informed Care and Recovery Treatment – 3 credits

Comprehensive overview of various types of trauma, neurobiological effects of traumatic stress, and ethics associated in working with a trauma survivor. Concepts and skills needed to become a fully functioning trauma-informed caregiver professional in the mental health and primary care setting.
Prerequisites: None.

    Students who pass the class and the final exam with 80% or more will be eligible to become a Certified Trauma Recovery Specialists (c-TRS) with the National Institute of Behavioral Medicine and a Certified Trauma Support Specialist (CTSP) with the Trauma Institute International.
    Students enrolled in BHS175 who pass the final exam with 80% or more will be eligible for a certificate as trauma support specialist and or trauma recovery specialist with the Trauma Institute International.
