Designed as the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) lecture to prepare students for scope of practice and standard of care with comprehensive assessment, diagnostic technology, patient advocacy, ethical and professional behaviors, critical thinking, decision-making, and patient management of medical and trauma emergencies and non-emergencies. Note: Students must meet National Registry of EMT requirements for certification. Additional information available at nremt.org. EMT104 may be repeated for credit. Prerequisites: Must be 18 years or older or permission of EMT Program Director and (A grade of C or better in CRE101, or 95 or higher on EdReady Critical Reading and Critical Thinking exam, or 261 or higher on Gen Accuplacer Reading Exam, or High School GPA 3.0 or higher within the previous 10 years, or Associate’s Degree or higher). EMT104LL: Emergency Medical Technology Practicum

Laboratory-based course provides structured, hands-on practice of EMT skills in a controlled learning environment. Students apply standards of care, patient assessment techniques, and evidence-based procedures through simulated medical and trauma emergencies using manikins and training devices. Emphasis is placed on decision-making, patient advocacy, and professional behaviors with immediate instructor feedback. The course follows national and state curricula to ensure skill development prior to clinical or practicum experience. Note: EMT104LL may be repeated for credit. Students must meet National Registry of EMT requirements for certification.
