General Organic Chemistry I (CHM235) 3 Credits

Rigorous introduction to chemistry of carbon-containing compounds. Reaction mechanisms and recent methods of synthesis emphasized. Note: Completion of prerequisites within the last two years recommended. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in (CHM152 and CHM152LL), or CHM152AA, or (CHM154 and CHM154LL), or permission of the Instructor, or Department or Division Chair.

      All of your assignments and work will be internet based without set meeting days or times to attend. Students and faculty interact with Canvas via email, video, and threaded discussions. A lot of your work will be self-paced, but there are establish deadlines and expectations.
      Class 17418 LEC is offered concurrently with CHM 17419 LAB (ONLINE); student MUST register for both CHM 235 LEC, Class 17418 and CHM 235 LAB, 17419 at the same time.
      Students are required to download and use Respondus LockDown Browser + Monitor which requires a webcam and microphone. Chromebooks do not support this software.
      Student is responsible to access their Maricopa “Student Center” for enrollment alerts regarding: Financial Aid, Payment Plan, and “DROPPED” FROM CLASS ISSUES.
      Note: Financial issues must be resolved before the class start date. Student cannot attend class if tuition is not paid prior to class start date.
