General Chemistry I (CHM151) 3 Credits

Detailed study of principles of chemistry for science majors and students in pre-professional curricula. Note: Completion of all prerequisites within the last two years is recommended. Student may receive credit for only one of the following: CHM150 and CHM151LL, or CHM151 and CHM151LL, or CHM150AA, or CHM151AA. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in [(CHM130 and CHM130LL), or CHM130AA, or one year of high school chemistry taken within the last five years] and (a grade of C or better in MAT151 or higher level mathematics course, or satisfactory placement), or permission of the Instructor, or Department or Division Chair.

      Part of the class is online and the other part is held in person. The online part uses Canvas and is held at a set day and time. The in-person part will occur on campus on the days and times listed in the class schedule.
      Students are required to download and use Respondus LockDown Browser + Monitor which requires a webcam and microphone. Chromebooks do not support this software.
      CHM 151 will run a modified hybrid course including social distancing mandates that will be in place for in person meetings. The classes will meet in person with alternate attendance. Half of the class will attend the course Monday and the second half will attend the course on Wednesday during the class times listed. Students will be contacted via their Maricopa email regarding which day they will attend the class in person.
