Fitness for Firefighters/CPAT (FSC130) 1 Credit

Skills and abilities required for entry level position in the fire service including physical ability, and stamina. Opportunity to take the accredited International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) at the end of the course at a IAFF licensed agency.
Prerequisites: None. Note: FSC130 is offered as credit (P) or no credit (Z) basis. Standard grading available according to procedures outlined in catalog.

      This section is for CBE (credit by exam).
      Requirements: must attend a min of 6 preparatory and practice sessions with the course instructor at the designated training location (info will be provided by the instructor(s) upon approval to enroll). There are no set days and times for the training sessions, as they are scheduled by student with the instructor(s) at the start of the semester. Students who successfully complete the 6 preparatory and practice sessions will then proceed to take an official CPAT test at one of the local licensed CPAT testing sites (instructor(s) will provide detailed information on approved testing sites). Student is responsible for Official CPAT testing fees through the organization providing the official test. Successful completion of the Official CPAT test is required for a passing grade. Additionally, student will be required to submit verification of attendance & performance signed by the instructor(s) via a timesheet submitted thru Canvas once requirements for course have been met.
