Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations (FSC105) 3 Credits

Basic methods of recognition and identification based upon the chemical and physical properties of hazardous materials; basic safety procedures when utilizing specific types of protective clothing and equipment; basic tactical information relating to scene management. Satisfies minimum standards for certification testing set forth by the current ProBoard and/or Arizona State Training and Certifying Authority.

      Voluntary IFSAC accredited certification testing is available after successful completion of the course (confer with the instructor). *Additional certification testing fee is required by the Az Center for Fire Service Excellence.

Class times; Friday 6:00-10:00PM, Sat & Sun 9:00AM-5:00PM. Includes 16 hrs of hands-on skills training including the use of B level encapsulated entry suits & Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
      Partnered with Texas A & M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX). Course meets NFPA 472, 2013 ed.
      Successful candidates will receive Dept Homeland Security(DHS)/FEMA certification in Haz Mat-WMD/Terrorism 1st Responder Awareness & Operations through TEEX. * ProBoard accredited certification testing will be conducted during the course (info will be provided by the instructor). *Additional ProBoard testing fee may be required.
