HIM234: Health Information Technology Professional Practice – 1 credit

Practical application of health information technology knowledge and skills under the supervision of a preceptor in a health care-related setting. Note: All District-required health/safety related prerequisites (valid fingerprint clearance card, background check, immunizations, drug screen and CPR certification at BLS Healthcare Provider level through the American Heart Association) must be met prior to Professional Practice Experience (PPE) placement. Student must participate in the PPE for Supervised Experiential Learning (SEL) Orientation. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in HIM203, HIM208, and HIM210 or permission of Program Director. All District-required health/safety related prerequisites: Valid fingerprint clearance card, background check, immunizations, drug screen and CPR certification at BLS Healthcare Provider level through the American Heart Association. Corequisites: HIM233 and permission of Program Director.
