Focus on the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the Internet and other computer networks. Principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations are introduced. Students will build simple LANs, perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement IP addressing schemes. Preparation for Cisco certification examination. Prerequisites: None.

This course will be taught with multiple attendance options.
For each scheduled meeting of this class, students have the option of attending in the classroom, participating online, or a combination of both. Students can change their mode of participation weekly or by topic, according to need or preference. However, students are required to attend at least three class sessions in person at some point during the course, on days of their choosing. The online portion of this class requires the use of a computer or mobile device with internet access, a webcam, speakers, and a microphone.
