Forensic Psychology (AJS255) 3 Credits

An interdisciplinary course that draws from the fields of psychology, sociology, criminology, and law. Focuses on various psychological constructs including psychiatric assessment and treatment and the nomenclature of mental disorders as well as legal constructs including the medicalization of deviance as embodied in dealing with the mentally ill criminal offender. Explores the interaction between psychology and law in the areas of civil commitment and various civil competencies. Examines legal and ethical issues that face the clinician and his/her patient in such arenas as confidentiality and privilege, the right to treatment, the right to refuse treatment, and the doctrine of informed consent.

Emergency Medical Technology (EMT104) 9 Credits

Techniques of emergency medical care in accordance with national and state curriculum. Study of the human body, patient assessment, treatment of medically or traumatically compromised patients, special hazards, and medical operations, IV monitoring, patient-assisted medication administration, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and blood-glucose monitoring. Simulation of actual emergency responses, with practical application of techniques and skills covered in EMT curricula. Scenario based learning applied to the techniques of emergency medical care in accordance with national and state curriculum. Intermediate Spanish I (SPA201) 4 Credits

Continued study of essential Spanish grammar and Spanish-speaking cultures. Continued practice and development of reading, writing, and speaking skills in Spanish. Emphasis on fluency and accuracy in spoken Spanish. Prerequisites: A grade of "C" or better in SPA102, or SPA102AA, or SPA111, or permission of Department or Division.       There has been a significant increase in the number of individuals
      following a plant based, vegetarian or vegan diet. Individuals are interested in improving their health and nutrition, helping the environment, and losing weight. The course examines the health advantages of adding more plant-based meals to the one’s lifestyle as well as modifying a person’s current diet towards a vegetarian diet.

Women and World Religions (WST290) 3 Credits

Focus on the role of women in several organized religions and/or religious sects. Study of myth and symbols as they are used to establish, maintain, and enforce sex-roles within specific cultural contexts around the world. Prerequisites: None.
