Emphasizes instrumental and vocal techniques and the preparation of all styles of rock band literature. Introduces music business. Requires participation in public and private performances throughout the semester. Note: MUP158 may be repeated for a total of four (4) credits. Prerequisites: Auditions are required.

    • Class Notes: Rock Band will focus on the learning and performing of rock and pop music, using techniques for ear training and music theory stemming from the historical development of such styles. Students will rehearse weekly and present several concerts to the public both on and off campus.

      This class has been changed from in-person to a "live online" class which meets with the instructor via the internet at the regularly scheduled dates and times set in the schedule. Students will be required to use online virtual meeting software (Google Hangouts or WebEx, both of which require a camera). This "live online" experience approximates the regular in-person class experience. Attendance at online sessions will be expected according to the instructor's attendance policy, which will be stated in the syllabus.
